Colonic Hydrotherapy

My name is Louise, and I am a Rictat Qualified Colonic Hydrotherapist.

My journey into colonic hydrotherapy began at age 20, when I started experiencing a range of digestive issues—what would now be described as IBS. The experience was life-changing and opened my eyes to just how important gut health is. It’s a vital yet often overlooked part of our overall metabolic wellbeing.

The large intestine is home to trillions of bacteria, known collectively as the microbiome, which play an essential role in keeping our digestive and metabolic systems in balance. When symptoms such as bloating, strong-smelling gas, constipation, or loose stools appear, they can be signs that the gut environment is out of balance and needs attention.

We now also offer advanced testing, including Gut Microbiome Analysis and Food Sensitivity Testing through Your Gut Map. These tools give us a deeper look into what may be happening within your gut, including potential sources of inflammation or microbial imbalance, helping to guide a more personalised approach to your wellbeing

Colonic Hydrotherapy has many benefits, and generally people following a treatment will experience an all round sense of well being.  There are many known health problems that can be effectively treated by means of a colonic irrigation.  The most common problems include constipation, bloating, IBS, fatigue, headaches, PMT, skin problems and circulatory disturbances.

The Treatment

The appointment normally last for approximately an hour.  On your first visit it will be slightly longer as you will be asked to fill out a Consultation form.  This is mandatory before you have your treatment.   Your therapist will go through your form and then explain the treatment to you.   The treatment itself usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes.  Following your treatment after care advice will be given taking into account your case history. This usually includes nutritional and lifestyle advice.

Initial consultation & treatment (1 hour 30 min) price: £85

Follow up treatments (1 hour) price : £70

The Procedure

Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle treatment, which involves the slow introduction of warm, filtered water into the colon via the rectum. The water is introduced at a very low and carefully controlled pressure. The water, combined with gentle abdominal massage helps to soften faecal matter and hardened deposits so that they can be expelled naturally by your colon and piped away with the waste water.  The treatment is completely hygienic as all equipment is disposable and sterile.   A gown and pants will be supplied to preserve your modesty at all times.

After Treatment

Following treatment it is advisable not to engage in any strenuous activities.   To eat light with the bulk of nutrients coming from vegetables or fruit, avoid spicy or rich foods for a couple of days.   It is advisable to avoid alcohol for up to 48 hours.

Health Benefits

During treatment the bowl receives a beneficial physical workout that can aid in the functional rehabilitation of the colon.    A colonic can be useful in treating conditions such as:

* Constipation (especially severe constipation)
* Diarrhoea
* Irritable Bowel Syndrome
* Atonic (Sluggish) Colon

Encouraging the elimination of lingering waste and intestinal gas can also help with other digestive problems like:

* Diverticulosis (not when inflamed)
* Bloating
* Flatulence
* Indigestion
* Candida
* Parasites

Colonics can also be beneficial to those with the following conditions, especially if they are linked to poor elimination or compromised gut function:

* Allergies

* Arthritis
